Emergency Kits aka “Go-Bag”

  • Kit

Your kit should be sturdy but lightweight, spacious, but not too big. Backpacks or even duffle bags typically work well.

Something big enough to hold your supplies and and don’t forget a water bottle.

The idea is that you want to have enough of the absolute BASIC supplies to be able to survive away from home for about 72 hours.

  • Yourself

The important thing is to bring the necessities. Pr-planning is key. Identification, BRIEF medical records including medications and any allergies. Medications and a first aid kit. Emergency blanket, change of clothes. Flashlight (extra batteries), and emergency whistle. Glasses or contacts, cleaning solution, sunglasses, sunscreen, hand sanitizer and any personal hygiene items such as toothbrush, toothpaste, etc.

It is also a good idea to have work gloves, a pocket knife, duct tape, rope or paracord, a multi-tool, and rain gear.

    Don’t forget emergency MONEY!

  • Animal

Non-perishable food items, along with food and water bowls (collapsible is nice for space sake). Identification, vet records, and proof of vaccinations including rabies (tags). Collar, leash and/or pet carrier. Photo of you and your pet together (for proof if needed). Bedding and towels are helpful. Favorite toy/comfort item.

    Pet-friendly hotel list.

Make it stand out.

It all begins with an idea. Maybe you want to launch a business. Maybe you want to turn a hobby into something more. Or maybe you have a creative project to share with the world. Whatever it is, the way you tell your story online can make all the difference.
