Serving our community
Here are a few of our team deployments…
Cookeville Tornado, 2020
In March of 2020, during the middle of the night, Cookeville, TN suffered the damage of an EF4 tornado. This storm, in which 19 people tragically lost their life, was devastating to our community. However, even the strength of such a storm is no match for the the people of Cookeville and Putnam County. During the aftermath of this storm, our team provided multiple services. Pictured above are several team members holding a food drive. This trailer was filled completely by the generosity of the community including those from as far away as Knoxville, TN. The food and supplies were then distributed to those in need.
In addition, our team conducted a search and rescue for lost animals; passed out information for pet friendly hotels to those in need of shelter; and mended multiple damaged fences.
Celina Flooding, 2019
Early 2019 brought an excessive amount of rain necessitating the release of large amounts of water from a local dam. This increased release of water along with the rain brought a surge in a local river threatening many locals. Putnam County DART established a makeshift animal shelter to provide safe housing and care for several of these animals.
Monterey Ice Storm, 2015
In the winter of 2015, an ice storm crippled Monterey, TN leaving many without power. In the following days, shelters for several people were setup and the Putnam County DART team responded by establishing safe housing for several pets. During this deployment, which lasted more than a week, our team located a mother and several newborn puppies, pictured above.
